Car Shopping

The Plymouth Acclaim, the car that brought us cross country from school to Calgary, the car that has lasted my driving style, has, well, had a major organ burst which causes it to go into high fever when it runs. Stupid water pump. Anyway, it has gotten to the point that Robyn and I no longer want to shell out cash every 2 months to keep this thing on the road…

So, it’s car shopping time… something we knew was inevitable but avoided like the plague - mostly because I’m cheap. [or, for you Ontarians, “conservative”]. Anyway. Last night we checked out the Hyundai dealership, and tonight we went to Toyota. Over the next few days we’re going to look at Honda, Mazda, and VW. Car shopping would be much better if we weren’t under duress, but, I digress. At least we’ll get something new and shiny… I like shiny.

Was it the same question then?

Holy crap. Question Period today is almost exclusively the Liberal Party of Canada versus John Baird (or, as Rick Mercer calls him, “Angry John”).

“Was the Prime Minister misleading us then, or is he misleading us now?”

You know, as much as I’m not a fan of Baird, I must admit, he’s handling it exceptionally well - he seems to have a good sized list of things Liberals said about Kyoto in the last few years and is throwing it right back. Kudos on preparation for Angry John.

Welcome to the 98th Sitting

All bets are on.

There are a number of issues that will dominate the House this sitting. The main one to watch will be the budget. There’s a lot at stake.

The Tories keep saying they’re not expecting a Spring election, but it seems that Harper is preparing nonetheless. Today marks the release of TV ads designed to discredit the new Liberal Leader. Is this a preemptive strike for an inevitable conclusion, or is this merely a fall back plan ‘in case’?
