NY: Day 2

Unlike yesterday’s debacle of trying to figure out which people were preying on tourists and which people were legit, today was a nice relaxing day (albeit WET) and we found ourselves hitting my stop of choice - the United Nations. In fact, I can say with great certainty that today was ‘Kirk day’…

On our way to the UN we stopped for lunch at Grand Central. Then we got to the UN. We were the only Canadians on the tour group that we were in, and so we laughed internally when the tour guide asked the group if we’d heard of ‘Peacekeepers’. Lester B. Who?

Later in the day we went to the Rockefeller Centre. There was actually one main motivation to go there. Nintendo World. In fact, if there’s little going on on Sunday, I may have to pop back in for the StarFox Tourney. Either way, I got myself a game of Nintendo Uno and a plush Yoshi. Since Yoshi pwns.

Tomorrow we go see Rent…

New York, New York

We arrived. This city is bloody massive. It’s overwhelming.

Anyways, thought you’d enjoy the view from our room

The Deficit Drag

“That’s the deficit… they really made a mess of it… that’s the deficit drag”

0.2 points for the reference…

So McGuinty got rid of the Ontario deficit (somehow), and of course, and Canadian Federation of Students are already backlashing… Of course, McGuinty wouldn’t have gotten into a problem if he didn’t promise tuition freezes when he ran, forced to do it even though he didn’t want to once he got in office (and actually LOOKED at the budget), and then complain that Ontario doesn’t get enough money from Ottawa because he spent it all on the freeze… sigh…

Tickets

Today Robyn and I bought tickets for some shows in New York. We’re going to see Rent (of course.. how could you go to New York and NOT see Rent on Broadway). We are also going to see Avenue Q, a musical that introduces us to the REAL uses of the Internet.

Of course, anyone who got a chance to see the AOL logs already know what the Internet is used for.

Robyn wants to go see Bodies, the Exhibition, and I’m just excited that I get to visit the United Nations. Yes, I am a politics geek.

2 more days of work and then vacation!!!
