Ever wonder why people in their right mind would fund military forces?

Members of Canada’s top secret commando unit, Joint Task Force 2, had been in Iraq working in tandem with British troops, said officials. It’s not clear how many were in Iraq, but they have been in the country for some time.
Today we have to thank the training and intelligence of those who we have commissioned to keep Canadian citizens safe throughout the world. Our military is not a bunch of gunslinging warmongerers, but CANADIANS who believe in the values of Peace, Order and Good Government - they are people who want to make a positive difference. And our troops are among the best trained in the world. I do not condone war, but I am not against the Canadian Forces and their continued funding through our tax dollars. Today, I hope, those of you who many not have formerly understood that position get a glimpse of why.

Three years ago today we closed Godspell - probably one of the most successful ventures of my short but busy life. Of course, I’ve been reminiscing over the past few days as I’ve been discussing with many people the differences between Godspell, Charlie Brown, and of course, Footloose. I try to stay as relatively non-biased as possible on the issue, but frankly I was lucky to have some of the most talented and experienced individuals at my disposal at the time…
One must also not discount the influence of magic…

Ever have a theory of how something should work, and then you program it, and then it doesn’t? And then it takes like 2 hours to debug it because it is so off from what you expected that you start looking elsewhere in the code for some sort of random cause? And then, finally you realize that instead of typing ‘==’ you typed ‘=’?
It’s been a bad day for stupid bugs for me. Last night I was up until 4:30am trying to figure out why something wouldn’t work in PHP, only to realize that I had one line of whitespace, which PHP decided to punish me for… Kind of like having a c compiler not work simply because you had a comment somewhere that it didn’t like…

Schlegel and I were chatting on the weekend, and I mentioned the idea of getting a number of us to take a joint weekend vacation next year to a conference in the States. I had first mentioned E3, but after talking we thought maybe PAX 2007 would be good. Off hand, I was wondering who would be interested in such a venture. It would most likely be August of next year - PAX is for a weekend but I imagine we’d arrive on the Thursday and fly back the Monday.
PAX is the Penny Arcade Expo for you non-gamers.
E3 is of course still an option - but, if we want in on the exhibits and the workshops (I mean, might as well do the whole Tuesday-Sunday if we’re going), were looking at $725 US per person just for E3… 3-day pass for PAX is like $45 US…
