Math and Law

Over the past few weeks, Gabe and I have been discussing a paper that he is writing - something that has tremendous potential in the legal and political world - and it requires a decent amount of mathematics. So, somehow, over two years after receiving my degree and leaving acadamia, I seem to have been pulled back in to help write a paper… or two…

This is exciting for me since it’s using my math skills in a field which I have a lot of interest in - law. Plus, having a paper or two under my belt is always good. I have to be careful, though - if I get published in a journal before Robyn I may not live long thereafter…

Offer…

Well - Robyn and I put in an offer for a condo tonight. It’s a competing offer (stupid crazy Calgary market), and so in some odd ritual tonight the realtors get together with the owner - I suspect an ouija board is used - and they decide what to do next - whether to accept or counter any of the offers. Nonetheless, tonight after the offer ceremony we will hear the results and must then present a financial sacrifice to the realty gods, should our offer be accepted…

It’s exciting and scary at the same time.

Update: We have a new condo. We take possession in April.
